To preserve, protect, promote and attempt to ensure fair and competitive local and global markets for Indian malt whisky by framing and advocating equitable, reasonable and implementable policies, legislations, and regulatory environment and share best practices to safeguard and enhance the image and interest of Indian Malt Whisky Industry by encouraging truth and transparency in labelling, taking steps to secure GI (Geographical Indication) Marks, Group Marks and / or any other Intellectual property rights, as the case may arise, educating consumers, intermediaries and market players, setting certification standards for assuring quality and authenticity of Indian Malt Whisky.

The number of members with which the company proposes to be registered is hundred but the Board of Directors may from time to time register an increase of members.
A. The subscribers to the memorandum and such other persons as the Board shall admit to membership shall be members of the company.
B. MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA. (I).Person (s) fulfilling all the following criteria shall be eligible to be the member of the Company a) Only the business entity can apply for membership of the Company either in its own name or through its nominee.
b) Involved in the business of manufacturing of malt whisky.

Regulatory & Technical Standards

These Guidelines/Standards lay down rules related to Brewing, Fermentation, Distillation, Maturation, Blending and Bottling covering the entire process of manufacturing/production of Indian Single Malt Whisky and Indian Pure Malt Whisky. Members may view these guidelines/standards as minimum rules to be adopted and may also choose to adopt rules/standards stricter.

We, at IMWA are committed to doing business legally, ethically and in a transparent manner. This document applies to all staff who work for the IMWA (including officers, directors, managers, team leaders, employees, temporary, agency, interim, sub-contractor or consultant staff), and also include other organisations who do business with us.
